Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program- Part A

Feb 01, 2023

Join NACCHO and CAEAR Coalition’s New Ryan White Part A Community of Practice

For decades, local planning has been critical to effectively creating programs that reach and treat all people living with HIV in the United States. Consistent HIV care and treatment is vital to achieving optimal health outcomes for people living with HIV as well as to preventing HIV transmission;, therefore it is essential that all people living with HIV have low to no barrier access to quality HIV care and treatment services. Recognizing the importance of local planning and localized HIV strategies and implementation, the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative was established to expand HIV prevention and care strategies at the city/county level. During our Part A workshop on August 10, 2020, we heard your concerns around the siloed federal HIV/AIDS programs and funding streams, lack of flexibility within programs, and a need for Ryan White Part As and local health department HIV programs to come together for facilitated discussions and to share ideas and best practices. We listened!

NACCHO and the CAEAR Coalition have established a Ryan White Part A Community of Practice (CoP) for Part A jurisdictions to have a space to share best practices, discuss program and policy strategies, and determine current barriers to implementing effective HIV interventions. This CoP will focus on local health department staff who are part of a Ryan White Part A jurisdiction.

Time commitment and frequency: Each LHD commits to the CoP for a minimum of a year. One staff person may attend each meeting and the staff person may vary depending on the topic. The CoP meets every other month for one-hour discussion sessions, held via a Zoom conference line. For more information and to join, email [email protected].
